Virtual Tour
This page includes pictures of the actual Rodentry.
Please note that these are examples of how the cages look, since I do completely change the accessories and
layout of each cage every week.

Back to The Rodentry
This is an example of my maternity cages. These
are 54qt Sterilite bins that have been modified to
make a suitable temporary rat enclosure. New
moms and their litters spend about two weeks in
these cages - just long enough for the babies to
open their eyes. Once those eyes are open, they
are moved into nursery cages (see below).
The Girls Cage
My adult girls are currently housed in a large Martin's
F-430HR (The Ferret Highrise). This cage is quite large,
and allows the girls to have two wheels (both Silent
Spinners).

This cage currently houses 6 adult and 2 young females.
My adult boys live in this cage. It is a Martin's
R-695 (The Rat Skyscraper). This cage is excellent
for rats of all ages.

This cage currently houses 4 adult Standard males.
The Boys Cage
This is another Martin's R-695. It was previously
used as my main girls' cage, which is why it is
decorated. This cage is used for young rats not
quite large enough to go into the adult cages.

This cage is currently empty.

The Dwarf Cage
My Dwarf boys live here. It is a Martin's R-680
(The Rat Lodge).

This cage currently houses 3 Dwarf boys.
I have a couple of different nursery cages I use
depending on the size of the litter.

The first is actually a modified cage - it is the
bottom half of a Martin's R-695. I use this cage
for larger litters. This cage is currently housing
Lotus and her 13 babies.

For smaller litters, I have two Martin's R-660s.
Both are currently empty.
